Pursuing Intimacy with God
We are a community gathering together in services spoken in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin on Sundays. This way you can worship in a language you are comfortable with. Each service is slightly different in format, but the content and focus remains the same as we seek to pursue intimacy with God. Along with our services there are various other age specific ministries which also seek to pursue intimacy with God through different ways.
Growing in Fellowship
As we pursue intimacy with God through our services and ministries we join together to grow in our fellowship with one another. We have fellowships in different languages and would love to have you join us.
Serving Others
Through pursuing God and growing in fellowship we are compelled to reach out to others. We have many opportunities to serve others around us and invite you to be a part of them.

OUR HISTORY
TCAC was founded in 1968 by the late Rev. Michael Chan. Its first meeting was held at the Y.M.C.A. (275 Broadview Ave). Later, the First Avenue Baptist Church invited Rev. Chan to initiate Chinese ministry at their church. In 1971, at the recommendation of Rev. Philip Teng, Rev. Chan joined the Christian and Missionary Alliance and named the church Toronto Chinese Alliance Church (TCAC).
In 1972, after Rev. Chan founded the Canadian Chinese Eastern Winter Conference, the youth ministry of the church grew quickly. The number of people increased so much that TCAC needed to find its own church home. In 1976, First Avenue Baptist Church sold its facility to TCAC, and the keys were lovingly handed over with prayers that this Canadian-Chinese church “would keep the lamp of God alight until the trumpet of the Lord shall sound.”
In the late 1970s, the church grew rapidly, with more than 100 baptized every year, and many youth fellowships were established. In early 1980 the church developed an English ministry, and in October 1981 an English worship service began. In 1989, Rev. Michael Chan rested in the arms of the Lord. Rev. Stephen Chan served as the Interim Senior Pastor until Rev. Yuen King Wan came in March 1991. After Rev. Wan took office, he shifted the focus of the church’s ministry to adults and families, and he strengthened the church's outreach work.
As early as the mid-1980s, TCAC started planning to plant a church in the north end of the GTA. In March 1990, North Toronto Chinese Alliance Church finally opened in Richmond Hill, with Rev. Peter Au as the church planting pastor. In 1999, due to the increasing number of overseas Chinese who spoke Mandarin, the church started a Mandarin ministry. In 2010, TCAC planted a church in Markham, and the Petra Alliance Church was established.
After more than a decade without a senior pastor, TCAC invited Rev. Stephen Ford to serve as the senior pastor, overseeing the English, Cantonese and Mandarin ministries of the church. Rev. Ford came to TCAC in August 2017 and gradually encouraged an increased focus toward the Riverdale community. On October 15, 2021, the English name of the church was officially changed to Toronto Community Alliance Church, while the Chinese name remained unchanged.
We continue to be a Christ-centred, Spirit-empowered, mission-focused church, serving the Riverdale community in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
